But can the reality of Torah be shaped and molded by our thoughts? The book of Revelation revolves around sevens: seven lamps, seven stars, seven spirits, seven churches, seven angels ... This teaching takes a plunge into first-century apostolic angelology to unravel the mystery of the seven spirits before the throne.

As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Revelation 1:20)

Number 1 in the series Apocalypse of John

According to the first three verses of the book of Revelation, God delivered an 'unveiling" of concealed things to his Son Yeshua. He, in turn, revealed it to his angel who revealed it to John to reveal to Yeshua's bondservants. Apocalypse of Messiah, the first teaching in the series on the book of Revelation, introduces us to the apocalyptic genre of literature in order to provide context for the book.

The mystic, the man of faith, does not want to just learn about God and study about God but to actually be swept up with the unseen, caught up into the divine, whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know, but to know God rather than just to know about God. The book of Revelation offers us that opportunity.

Rabbi Jonathan Cahn's book the Mystery of the Shemitah has gripped the nation. Rabbi Cahn claims that God deals with the United States by imposing a pattern of judgment which recurs on a seven-year cycle corresponding to the Shemitah year. Is there a basis in Torah or biblical prophecy for the claims? This teaching also considers the blood moons, a sandstorm in the Middle East, and the recent tragedy in Mecca which took place on the anniversary of the World Trade Center disaster. Is God trying to tell us something?

In the first chapter of the book of Revelation, the risen Yeshua appears and declares that he holds in his hand "the keys to death and Hades." What are these keys and from where did he acquire them? What do they unlock?

This teaching, presented on Erev Rosh HaShanah 5776, discusses the resurrection of the dead in relationship to the shofar of Rosh Hashanah.

Rabbi Yochanah said: The Holy One blessed be He has retained three keys in his own hands and not entrusted them into the hand of any messenger: the Key of Rain, the Key of the Womb, and the Key of the Resurrection of the Dead.” (b.Taanit 2a–b)

The Torah portion called Ki Tetze begins with the words, "When you go out to battle against your enemies." In this Sabbath teaching, Pastor Lancaster homiletically applies these words to the obligation to battle against the evil inclination, particularly in the area of sexual purity. The discussion turns to consider our strategy in the battle against the broader culture's new sexual standards and how we as disciples of Yeshua of Nazareth should respond.

Life is full of good intentions: "One of these days, I'm going to start exercising and eating healthy." "One of these days, I'm going to get my life back on track." Have you ever noticed that "one of these days" never comes? This teaching about the Sabbath and God's Holy Days demonstrates how HaShem's appointed times are designed to interrupt our routine and provide opportunities for self-improvement, increasing godliness, and drawing nearer to God. We call this the "cycle of sanctification." We learn about how, just as Israel was commanded to sacrifice only at the place God chose to put his name, likewise, God's holy days function as "sanctuaries in time," chosen by God for all his people's participation. The forty days of repentence before the high holy days are an ideal time to get life back on track with renewed focus on repentance, prayer, and charity.

This teaching was originally presented to the community of Beth Immanuel on Rosh Chodesh Elul, Shabbat Re'eh, August 15, 2015 / Av 30, 5775, at the beginning of the forty days of repentance.

Yeshua said that Miryam chose the good portion and it would not be taken away from her. What is the "good portion" that Miryam chose? In this teaching from Parashat Ekev, the Mitzvah of saying the grace after meals opens a discussion about the story of Miryam and Marta in Luke 10 and the importance of speaking words of Torah and the words of the Master at the Sabbath table. An important reminder about the distractions of materialsim.

Yeshua answered and said to her, "Marta, Marta, you are worried and alarmed about many things. Nothing is necessary except one thing, and Miryam has chosen the good portion that will not be taken from her." (Lukas 10:42-43, DHE)

This teaching was originally presented to the community of Beth Immanuel on Shabbat Ekev, August 8, 2015 / Av 23, 5775.
