Questions and Answers
Is it OK if I have to miss a session?
Yes. However, to keep up with the class, it will be necessary to study the lesson on your own before the next session.
I cannot afford the materials. What can I do?
Let Aaron know how much you can afford to pay. He will try to coordinate with donors to help make up the difference.
Will the classes be recorded or available online?
No. The primary benefit of the live class is the interactive component, which cannot be captured in a recording. Students who cannot attend are encouraged to use the materials for self-study.
Can I share a book with someone else?
It would be best for each person to have a book. However, it would probably work OK for no more than two people to share a book, as long as they are members of the same household.
Will there be homework?
Students will be asked to listen to a 15-minute recording every day. There will be no written homework.
What is the benefit of buying the extra video/pdf CD?
It will make no difference for the class itself, but during self-study you will be able to watch a video slideshow instead of following along with pages in the book.
Will students be graded?
There will not be any grading, but quizzes are provided in the book that students may use for self-assessment.
Is this class suitable for children/homeschoolers?
Yes, depending on the student. It is best for dedicated, serious learners ages ten to adult.
What if I already have the required materials?
Super! You don’t need to pay or order anything; just sign up and bring your book to class!
After I am done with this class, how can I continue learning?
The book includes reading practice which will provide several weeks of further study. BLC also offers level 2 and 3 courses, which you can order through their website (biblicallanguagecenter.com).
What kind of Hebrew is this?
We will be learning the ancient type of Hebrew used in the Bible, although we will be using the pronunciation used in modern-day Israel. To modern Israelis, Biblical Hebrew grammar is archaic but understandable, kind of like what Shakespeare sounds like to modern-day English speakers.
