Number in the series

This is a recording of our first night of Selichot service, which took place just after 1:00 am Sunday, September 22, 2019. Selichot are prayers seeking forgiveness. The central theme is the recitation of the Thirteen Attributes, along with poems asking God for grace and compassion. Our synagogue follows the Ashkenazi custom to begin reciting Selichot on Motzaei Shabbat at least four days prior to Rosh Hashanah. Sepharadim recite Selichot starting on Rosh Chodesh Elul.

It was recorded with a stereo microphone. Listen with headphones!
